How LinkedIn Text Formatting Works
LinkedIn doesn't natively support rich text formatting in posts. Unlike Notion or Google Docs, you can't simply select text and click βboldβ in LinkedIn's post editor. However, there are two ways to format your LinkedIn posts:
Method 1: Unicode Characters (What This Tool Does)
This formatter converts your text into special Unicode characters that visually resemble bold, italic, or other styles. For example, βHelloβ becomes βππ²πΉπΉπΌβ using Mathematical Sans-Serif Bold characters. This method works everywhere: copy the formatted text and paste it directly into LinkedIn's post editor. No extension or tool required.
However, Unicode formatting has limitations: the text is NOT searchable on LinkedIn, screen readers may not interpret the characters correctly (creating accessibility issues), some devices may not render all Unicode characters properly, and you cannot combine Unicode bold with hashtags or mentions.
Method 2: Automatic Formatting from Notion (What Scheduled Does)
If you write your posts in Notion, Scheduled automatically converts your bold, italic, and bold italic formatting when publishing to LinkedIn. No need to copy-paste from a formatter tool. Just write naturally in Notion using bold, italic, and bold italic, and Scheduled handles the conversion for you.
This saves you time compared to manually formatting with a Unicode tool. Write once in Notion, and Scheduled publishes your post with the right formatting applied automatically.
LinkedIn βSee Moreβ Cutoff Explained
LinkedIn truncates posts in the feed after approximately 210 characters on mobile and slightly more on desktop. Only users who click βsee moreβ will read the rest of your post. This makes your opening lines the most critical part of any LinkedIn post. The preview tool above shows you exactly where this cutoff falls, so you can craft a hook that compels readers to click.
Tips for writing effective hooks: ask a provocative question, start with a surprising statistic or statement, open with a bold opinion, use a short punchy first line followed by a line break, or create curiosity gaps (βI made one change that doubled my engagement...β).
Formatting Best Practices for LinkedIn
Bold text should be used sparingly for emphasis, not for entire posts. A post that's entirely bold loses its visual hierarchy and becomes harder to read. Use bold for key phrases or takeaways (1-2 per post maximum). Use line breaks generously since LinkedIn posts are read on mobile. Keep paragraphs to 1-2 sentences. Use emojis as bullet points for lists. Avoid walls of text: white space is your friend.
